A deluge of fire sets Fort Vauban ablaze: relive the fireworks display of the Semaine Cévenole

La foule s’est massée dans le jardin public du Bosquet pour assister au spectacle. MIDI LIBRE – CHARLES LEDUC

Le public, massé dans le jardin public du Bosquet, dans le centre-ville d’Alès, en a pris plein les yeux.

This was the apotheosis of the first major public event of this weekend of the 12th edition of the Semaine cévenole. On the evening of Friday, October 4, after the medieval meal which attracted nearly 750 people to the town hall square in Alès, the crowd headed towards the garden public of the Bosquet, where, as tradition dictates, a fireworks display is offered with Fort Vauban in the background. And the trip was indeed worth it.

Alternate night sky and historical monument

At 9:35 p.m., after the extinction of the street lighting, the first bombs were thrown towards the stars. Then, to music, a succession of scenes paraded before the spectators' eyes for a quarter of an hour, alternating between illuminations of the sky and visual animations of the historic monument in the heart of the city. This continued until the final blaze of the fort, to the sound of thunderous detonations. A spectacle greeted by a round of applause.
