The exercise will take place this Thursday, October 10, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Alternative routes will be set up on the A75 between interchanges 52 (Soubès) and 54 (Le Bosc). Heavy goods vehicles will be stored on the motorway lanes by the national gendarmerie.

This Thursday, October 10, between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., a safety exercise will take place in the Rocher de la Vierge tunnel, on the A75 motorway, near Lodève. Consequence: traffic will be cut in both directions on this section for the duration of the operation.

Exit at the Soubès and Bosc interchanges

The Hérault prefecture indicates that alternative routes will be set up on the A75 between interchanges 52 (Soubès) and 54 (Le Bosc) for light vehicles, passenger buses and animal transport.

“Heavy goods vehicles on the A75 and arriving at the height of the exercise, upstream and downstream of the Rocher de la Vierge tunnel, will be stored on the motorway lanes by the national gendarmerie”, the prefecture specifies, insisting on the fact that “these heavy goods vehicles will not will not be able to leave the motorway via interchanges 52 and 54".

Simulated intervention in the presence of dangerous materials

This exercise will simulate a collision between a van and a truck transporting dangerous materials within the tunnel. It is organized by the prefecture in collaboration with the Massif Central Interdepartmental Roads Directorate, the departmental gendarmerie group, the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis 34) and the Hérault departmental council.

It is part of “regular training for those involved in crisis management (internal security forces, firefighters, etc.)” in order to “test maneuvers, operational systems and coordination interservices", recalls the prefect François-Xavier Lauch.
