Pétanque: Canaules cadets will see Normandy

At the Estanque bowling alley in Nîmes, on the weekend of October 5 and 6, the Cochonnet Canaulois cadets, the only representatives of Gard in the final phase of the regional youth club championship, were aiming for qualification for the French championships at the end of October in Saint-Pierre-lès-Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime). And, the cherry on the cake, the title of Occitanie champion.

A decisive semi-final

A perfectly successful operation for Sami Rahali-Comes, Léo-Paul Leveque, Adel Meziri-Volkmann, Jérémy Part and Joseph Santiago.

In the match for the place in “France”, in the semi-final against Montpezat-de-Quercy (Tarn-et-Garonne), the Gardois first won two victories out of three individually. In doubles, they then won the first match and drew the second (10-10 after the two extra ends and after leading 10-0…).

To discover the Henri-Salvador bowling alley in Normandy, they found themselves, then, in the obligation to win the triple or the precision shooting. It was Joseph Santiago who broke the deadlock with a decisive precision shot, allowing them to win 29-24.

The difference made twice in precision shooting

In the final, to obtain the regional title, the cadets from Canaulois measured themselves against the residents of the Castelginest-Buffebiau bowling school (Haute-Garonne).

The Gardois began their match with three victories and one defeat in the one-on-ones.

In doubles, if Rahali Comes and Santiago atomized their opponents (13-1), Part and Leveque were marking time (0-6) and the return of Meziri-Volkmann in place of Leveque changed absolutely nothing and did not avoid the fanny to the Canaulois.

Here we go again: the title was going to be decided by a victory in shooting or in threes. Seeking revenge, Merizi-Volkmann excelled in precision shooting and, after a tie at 27-27, flew off to sign a high-flying 45-30 victory. The title of Occitanie champions, for him and his four partners, was in the bag.

The Gardois can now dream of wearing the tricolor jersey in Saint-Pierre-lès-Elbeuf…

The Héraultais were crowned in the other two categories: Saint-Pargoire in minimes and Palavas in juniors. I subscribe to read the rest
