“What possessed you to say yes ?”: Jean-Pierre Foucault shares his regrets about his latest TV choice
|Jean-Pierre Foucault is in the series "Meurtres à…", whose first episode of the season dedicated to the Côte Bleue is broadcast on October 12, 2024. The iconic host of French television confides in a rather unusual regret.
For a surprising, and almost ironic, reason, Jean-Pierre Foucault regrets having taken part in Meurtres sur la Côte bleue, which begins broadcasting tonight on France 3. WithTélé 7 jours, he confided in the difficulties he had in playing his character.
“But what got into you”?”
The 76-year-old presenter had never played another character than himself. Becoming an actor for this series on France 3 was a major challenge. Reason why he hesitated: “But what possessed you to say yes ?”, he asks our colleagues.
“I realized that it was extremely complicated to play a character, especially since the director, Marjolaine de Lecluse, was quite demanding", explains the host. A small regret then, tinged with irony, since finally he was able to complete the filming and play in a sufficiently satisfactory way for him to appear on the small screen tonight.
The director's leitmotif was to say “This scene is great, but we're going to do it again!” And with a bit of perseverance, Meurtres sur la Côte bleue was able to see the light of day.
Career turnaround
It was an unprecedented turnaround in the career of the iconic presenter of Miss France: “I would say the taste for adventure and novelty, no doubt… I hesitated before agreeing.”
“Acting was a completely new experience. I had played two or three times, but my own role", explains Jean-Pierre Foucault.
A parenthesis that will not prevent him from presenting Miss France in December : "But hey, it will be thirty years, this year, that I have hosted this ceremony, and I have always been wrong about the predictions. I would like to point out that I will still be the one presenting the election, since magazines regularly announce my ouster exclusively!”
