Castelnau Le Crès wins by a small goal at Lavérune and goes through to the Coupe d'Occitanie

In an advanced match of the Occitanie Cup, 3rd District round, Lavérune (D2) resisted the Regional team, Castelnau Le Crès (R2), before conceding by a small goal on Saturday evening. The Greens of Castelnau continue their journey while waiting for the rest of the matches this Sunday.

Despite the three division gap separating Lavérune, a resident of Départemental 2, from Castelnau-Le Crès, which plays in Régional 2, CCFC had a more difficult match than expected. Having struggled in the first quarter of an hour against a serious Lavérune team, the Greens conceded the first chances of the match and lost too many balls. More diligent thereafter, Castelnau opened the score with a penalty scored by its captain in two stages. The Lavérune goalkeeper had initially managed to push the ball away, but was powerless against the second attempt by the opposing attacker, who had followed the action well.
In the second half, CCFC kept control of the ball but struggled to create clear chances. It was the locals who had the best opportunity with a one-on-one between Coissac Oller and the visiting goalkeeper which turned to the advantage of the goalkeeper. Castelnau-Le Crès qualifies for the next round and avoids the trap set by a Lavérune team that has nothing to be ashamed of in its performance.
