A 103-year-old woman arrested without a license and disoriented in the middle of the night in her car: she wanted to join friends

Une femme âgée de 103 ans a été retrouvée complètement désorientée au volant d'une voiture en Italie le 11 mars 2024, sans être titulaire d'un permis de conduire. La centenaire a prétexté vouloir retrouver des amis. 

The carabinieri confronted a hundred-year-old driver on the night of Sunday March 10 to Monday March 11.  Giuseppina Molinari, 103 years old, wanted to find friends. Not having a driving license, this Italian woman was also disoriented at the time of her arrest, reports L'Unione Sarda.

She wanted to meet friends

According to our colleagues, the centenarian no longer had a license. Indeed, her precious license to drive had expired more than two years previously and she was no longer allowed to get behind the wheel. 

This Italian retiree was driving "dangerously", according to the authorities' account to our colleagues . The car was not properly insured. Questioned by the carabinieri, the driver explained that she had taken the road to join her friends in the province of Ferrara, in Bondeno.

A compulsory test from the age of 80

The centenarian's car was taken away by a tow truck and the driver was taken home after receiving a fine for her infractions.

As a reminder in Italy, drivers aged over 80 must undergo a medical examination in order to continue driving.
