Prefect Jérôme Bonet presided over a graduation ceremony this Friday, August 2, at the National Police Academy (ENP) in Nîmes. The “bridge” system allows former gendarmes to become peace officers.
Among the many possibilities for becoming a peace officer, the “bridge” system allows former gendarmes to become peace officers after completing three months of training at the National Police Academy in Nîmes. This Friday, August 2, 27 ENP students and ex-gendarmes were involved in this scheme which gave rise to a ceremony, under a blazing sun, in the ENP courtyard.
“Legitimate force” : Jérôme Bonet, Prefect of Gard
Prefect Jérôme Bonet presided over this school outing while urging the new police officers to always keep in mind that they had to act with humanity while keeping in mind that they embodied “legitimate force” to protect the weak sometimes “faced with complex situations”. The State representative in Gard recalled the principles of probity and professional discretion that should guide the new peacekeepers in their mission, guarantor of Freedom. The prefect also spoke about the fight against drugs and terrorism and the action of the police sometimes leading to the restoration of order. The new guardians of peace threw, as usual, their caps towards the sky to close the ceremony.
