Connu sous le nom d’Hérault Transport, le syndicat mixte des transports en commun de l’Hérault célèbre son 20e anniversaire à Montpellier. À cette occasion, l’établissement public a annoncé un nouveau partenariat avec Lunel Agglo.

For its 20th anniversary, Hérault Transport reiterated its desire for evolution to remain a central pillar of mobility in the department. During a time of reflection with around thirty people, the regional advisor and president of Hérault Transport, Thierry Mathieu, highlighted the good collaboration between the different partners that are the urban areas. Hérault, the Department and the Region. "It’s important to celebrate this joint. The agglomerations are not necessarily on the same political side but they agree to provide a service to users", welcomed the president of a unique structure in France, predicting in passing a "radiant future".

Composed of six local authorities including the metropolis of Montpellier, Hérault Transport is celebrating its anniversary with the arrival of a seventh entity, Lunel Agglo. A membership which will be effective in the first quarter of 2025 and which will truly see the light of day in July 2025. Hérault Transport will then cover almost the entire department, serving 333 of the 342 Hérault municipalities.< /p>

"Héraultais applicants"

The desire of the union is to develop with "Héraultais applicants" while going to the field of & rsquo;ecology. "Our goal is to make our service effective so that users give up their individual car", explains Thierry Mathieu who believes that young people are more listening to these issues.

Like the Gignac multimodal exchange hub, the public establishment promotes intermodality. "Modes of transport must follow one another in harmony and not overlap. After taking the bus, we should be able to ride a bike, believes the union president. The most important remains “to adapt services and respond to user requests without constraining them.” To achieve this, Hérault Transport wishes to develop a single ticket in the future that would allow users to travel with any transport network and different forms of mobility.
