A “commando” appears at the foot of his building, feeling threatened, he shoots buckshot from his balcony, near Montpellier

The events occurred on Thursday January 4 in Juvignac. A man was injured. The perpetrator of the shots was arrested and taken into custody.  

Shots were fired on Thursday January 4 in the Constellations district, in Juvignac, north of Montpellier. A man targeted, from his balcony, a group of individuals present in front of his building. One of them was injured and went to Montpellier University Hospital shortly after. The gendarmes from the research section intervened and arrested the suspect. Placed in police custody at the Saint-Georges-d'Orques brigade, he will be presented this Saturday, January 6 to the prosecution. 

Four men hidden under hoods

The public prosecutor of Montpellier, Fabrice Bélargent, specifies that the facts occurred "around 10:30 a.m., at rue Jupiter, in Juvignac" and that, according to the first elements collected from witnesses, "a group of four individuals, hooded, showed up on site in a Renault Clio. While they were at the foot of the building, gunshots were heard. The individuals then immediately left the scene in the same vehicle."        

Hit by nearly 25 buckshot pellets

Investigators noted traces of blood on site and discovered a buckshot shell casing. "At the same time, they learned that an individual, injured by a firearm, had presented himself at the CHU. It was probably one of the members of this group of individuals. He was hit by a buckshot type shot, continues the public prosecutor. The victim thus received nearly 25 pellets.

The gendarmes also established that the four men who came by car were targeting a resident of the building. "At the sight of this "commando", he fired a firearm in the direction of his attackers, causing them to flee. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody. He admitted to being the author of the shots at the group of individuals, adds Mr. Bélargent.

What motivated the arrival of this  "commando", Thursday morning rue Jupiter, then these gunshots ? L&# The investigation must still determine this. "It would be, without prejudice, a dispute of family origin", indicated this Friday 5 January the public prosecutor.
