A convenience store clerk allegedly stole $ 30,000 from his employer

A 20-year-old woman was arrested for stealing more than $ 30,000 from her employer while she was working at a convenience store in Magog.

The flights took place between April and December 2017.

“The latter stole mainly money in the box, food such as crisps and beer, as well as winning lotto tickets which she won the prizes,” said Sylvain Guay, a lieutenant at the RPM.

“When a customer bought products, she registered the purchase on the cash register, following the departure of the customer she recorded the return of the goods and put the money in her pockets.”

It was only after several months that the owner of the dépanneur noticed flights. Later, he fired the clerk and lodged a complaint with the police department, adds Guay.

After analyzing several months of checkout coupons, investigators proceeded to arrest the clerk who could face charges of theft over $ 5,000 and fraud over $ 5,000.

No money was recovered during the investigation, says Guay.
