MAGOG – A driver of the ATV was arrested Friday for driving his vehicle while impaired in Magog, in Estrie, in the wake of an accident involving two other people.
The accident happened on Friday, around 3 am in the morning, on the way Arpin.
“On the spot, the driver of the ATV has referred to the first respondents that they were three of them on his machine and that it would have helped to make the maneuver difficult to turn, then could they in a curve. At its exit from the road, the rear of the vehicle would have crashed into a tree, which would have ejected the two passengers he was carrying”, said the Régie de police de Memphrémagog, in a press release.
The two injured people, a man and a woman in their twenties, were transported to the hospital for the injury “relatively minor”, police said.
As for the driver, a resident of Magog, at the age of 21, he was arrested for driving a vehicle while driving impaired by alcohol, and then released by way of a summons.
“In addition to the criminal charge, the suspect has received a statement of offence for driving with alcohol in his body, while he only has a driving permit, probationary (zero tolerance), referred to the Régie de police. He has also received statements of offence because he was not wearing a helmet and because he was carrying more than one passenger on board his ATV.”
The individual has seen his or her driver’s licence suspended immediately for a period of 90 days.
