A first in 35 years: it will soon be possible to pay with restaurant vouchers at the Lidl checkout

From September, it will be possible to pay with restaurant vouchers at Lidl. A real change for the brand.
This Thursday, Michel Biero, vice-president of Lidl France, was on the set of BFMTV. He announced that starting in September, the brand's customers will be able to pay with restaurant vouchers, a first for this major retail chain.
A first
“It's something we didn't do before. We've never done it in 35 years”, said Michel Biero. Customers will be able to pay up to 25 euros with their checks in stores.
This is a real strategic choice made by Lidl France. This change of position aims to increase its“customer flow”, that is, to attract customers to their stores who previously went to other stores that already accepted this payment method for food.
This is not the only announcement by the vice-president of Lidl France. He also indicated that new advantages would be granted to its most loyal customers. In fact, "the brand has also decided to offer customers who have a loyalty card a value of 10% on purchases paid for with restaurant vouchers", notes the news channel. “For a purchase of 50 euros, the customer will receive a 5 euro voucher”, added Michel Biero.
These decisions are being taken while the French are once again going through a complicated period. "Even if we are in deflation today with prices down by less than 1% (over the month of August, Editor's note), consumers do not see it because we are still at +11% compared to two years ago. It's catastrophic for fish. Customers buy canned food rather than fresh meat, ground beef rather than a rib steak,” laments Michel Biero.
