A forest fire mobilizes around fifty firefighters in the north of Gard

The fire, now under control, started in the town of Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers. The intervention of firefighters is still underway this Thursday at 6 p.m.  

The Gard firefighters intervened this Thursday July 18 at the end of the afternoon for a vegetation fire in the town of Montaren-et-Saint-Médiers to the north of ;rsquo;Uzès in the Gard.

The disaster classified as a forest fire started at 3:45 p.m. on the edge of the RD 238. Ten trucks as well as a water bomber helicopter were quickly engaged.

3500 m2 of softwood destroyed

At 5 p.m., the fire which destroyed some 3,500 square meters of softwood was under control.

At 6 p.m., the intervention of around fifty firefighters secured by the gendarmerie was still in progress. The firefighters were flooding the area around the fire.
