The road hasn't been easy, but Alex Galchenyuk is back in the National Hockey League (NHL) as he agreed to a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche on Monday .

According to the TSN channel, the 28-year-old American's annual salary will be $750,000.

Galchenyuk, released at the end of a contract he professional tryout at the end of training camp for the Avalanche after suffering an injury ending his hopes of making it to the big club, secured an American League pact with the Colorado Eagles. He totaled three goals and seven points in seven games with the Avalanche affiliate.

Drafted third in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Galchenyuk totaled 146 goals and 354 points with the Habs, Arizona Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs.
