A Law Night extended to several sites in Montpellier on October 3

Tous les acteurs du droit sont rassemblés autour de l’organisation de cette troisième nuit du droit. Midi Libre – JEAN-MICHEL MART

This is the third edition of the Nuit du droit, on October 3. To meet the public's enthusiasm, the event, which until now was concentrated in the premises of the Court of Appeal, will also take place at the Faculty of Law and at the Jean-Monnet high school. Registration opens this Friday.

Places that are snapped up in a few hours, as for some concerts: the two previous editions of the Nuit du droit, organized in the premises of the Court of Appeal, confirmed the public's significant interest in an event that was both educational and fun, initiated by the President of the Constitutional Council Laurent Fabius. “It's a huge success. It's full very quickly, full of young people”confirms Maxime Rosier, the president of the Bar Association.

“The great values carried by law”

Following the same enthusiasm, the 3rd meeting of the Night of Law, with which almost all legal professions are associated, will take place on Thursday, October 3; events are accessible for reservations, only electronically, from this Friday 20 (1). "And given the success, we decided to expand to three sites: the Court of Appeal, the law school and the Jean-Monnet high school. We were convinced by the dynamism of the bar" explains Tristan Gervais de Lafond, the first president of the Court. “We are all walking in unison in this affair, in the same adventure for three years. The “law family” is not an empty word, it is important to show it to the public. We all come together around the great values upheld by law” adds Jean-Marie Beney, the Attorney General. The day brings together in particular the judicial court, the administrative court, the chamber of notaries but also the justice commissioners and the students of the law faculty.

Historic trial of Violette Nozière

Values presented through dramatized readings of great pleas, oratorical jousts offered by students of the law school and students of the law faculty, but also the reconstruction of the historical trial of the parricide Violette Nozière, sentenced to death, denouncer of acts of incest and finally pardoned by General de Gaulle. A fictitious administrative trial will also bring back to life for spectators the famous hearing of the electoral fraud “with the sock” of Perpignan.

The law students have chosen to perform the play “Twelve Angry Men” by Reginald Rose. “La Nuit du droit can help the public understand the complexity of things” observes Guylain Clamour, the dean of the university. Before these performances, the Jean-Monnet high school will host a meeting with legal professionals to familiarize its students with these professions. An extension that makes one say that, strong in its success, the Night of Law has transformed into a real Day of Law.
