During a show of Les Grandes Gueules broadcast on RMC, one of the columnists wanted to make a dark humorous point, ironizing about the music played in some underground parking lots, after the rape of a woman in Metz. His joke didn't go down well.

In the summary of the news debated in the RMC program Les grosses têtes this Monday, September 2, the fact that the city of Metz is setting up parking spaces reserved for women, particularly after a rape that caused a stir in August, committed in an underground car park.

Music in the car parks

One of the columnists of the program, Charles Consigny, wanted to make a joke by bouncing on the subject. When talking about the music playing in some parking lots, one of the journalists said “Vivaldi's Four Seasons is reassuring”, to which Charles Consigny responded immediately “That makes for a less unpleasant rape”, immediately creating a feeling of unease on the set, as reported by TV mag du Figaro.

While the columnist tried to defend himself by saying he had made a “joke”, he was brought back into line by Olivier Truchot. "Attention, we are no longer allowed to make jokes on the show please because it is not funny”.

“It is really odious”

Also present on the set, Flora Ghebali, the only woman, reacted strongly “No, Charles, we can't make jokes about everything. Of course we can laugh and have fun. There, I find that what you just said is really odious", reports TV Mag, adding that the person concerned retorted "we are now going to do all the shows with you in the first degree, without humor and we will see if the shows are as nice".

The media L'informé, quoted by TV Mag and TéléLoisirs, indicates that following this sequence, the channel received emails from two elected officials, who denounced "unacceptable" remarks.

The general director of RMC is said to have assured that the columnist received an email and apologized. According to L'informé, he is sorry "if his black humor went against his thinking".
