A lot of motorcycle accidents during the weekend

Beaucoup d’accidents de moto durant le week-end

While the weather was at the rendezvous, the weekend was marked by several accidents involving motorcyclists everywhere in Québec.

Sunday in the early evening, the Sûreté du Québec were at least five motorcycle crashes, including two fatal, on its territory since Friday night.

Frelighsburg, Montérégie, a motorcycle rider of 30 years was killed Sunday afternoon after being hit by a car that was turning left. According to the SQ, it would be possible that the driver of the car did not see the motorcycle happen because of a drop in the sector.

A second motorcycle was involved in this accident, hitting the victim who was lying on the ground after the first impact. The two occupants of the motorcycle were, however, suffered no serious injury.

The day before, Paul Provencher, 41 years old, had died of his injuries after a violent collision with a car on a country road in Sainte-Perpétue, in Centre-du-Québec. The motorcyclist was ejected from his vehicle. The driver of the car, to him, had then fled on foot. Sunday, police officers from the SQ were always in search of it.

A little everywhere in Quebec, other accidents involving motorcycles have been recorded in the course of the weekend.

A motorcyclist and his passenger were still in critical condition Saturday after an accident on route 116 in Sainte-Marie-Madeleine, Montérégie.

The driver of the motorcycle had attempted an overtaking manoeuvre on a car, had indicated the SQ after the events.

Life saves

On a more optimistic note, we feared not for the life of the motorcyclist involved in the collision with a car at Vaudreuil, and the one with a deer, Saint-Nazaire-d Acton, in the Montérégie region. The two events took place on Saturday.

That there are many motorcycle crashes at this time, unfortunately, nothing surprising about that.

“It is beautiful and people go out of their motorcycle. Unfortunately, the speed limit is not always respected,” said sergeant Claude Denis of the Sûreté du Québec.

In 2019, 47 motorcyclists died on the roads of Quebec, according to the most recent balance sheet of the Société d’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ).
