A magnitude 6 earthquake struck off the island of Sumatra, Indonesia on Tuesday, the United States Seismological Institute (USGS) announced. < /p>
The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 2:30 p.m. GMT, is located nearly 50 km off the coast of South Sumatra province.
