L’interpellation des trois mis en cause résulte de l’opiniâtreté d’un Montpelliérain, victime d’un cambriolage, qui a reconnu son vélo devant un ancien local EDF squatté et a appelé la police.

Pascal, Émilie and Smain, three homeless people aged 40, 39 and 47 respectively, recently appeared before the Montpellier judicial court to answer charges of theft, receiving stolen goods and possession of narcotics.

~6 0~p>On August 12, they were arrested by police officers from the anti-crime squad in a former EDF technical premises, squatted on Avenue Abbé-Paul-Parguel, following a report.

Indeed, a few hours earlier, a Montpellier resident living on the same street had spotted his bike at this address that had just been stolen and had rushed to report it to the police.

Ali Baba's Cave

The said premises, with an area of approximately the 50 m2, contained a real Ali Baba's cave. Six bicycles, two scooters, identity cards, bank cards, vital cards, TaM cards, tools, costume jewelry, a laptop, clothes, bottles of alcohol, many diverse and varied objects from thefts or searches in garbage containers were thus discovered and seized.

As well as several bags of white powder that will turn out to be cocaine. The three being notorious drug addicts.

Heavy criminal records

The first, whose papillary traces were found in the home of the owner of the bike that raised the alarm, admitted to the burglary. With a criminal record containing eleven convictions (receiving stolen goods, possession of narcotics, aggravated theft, involuntary manslaughter by car, etc.), he was sentenced to two years in prison, one of which was suspended for two years.

His ex-partner, who certified that she did not know the origin of these various objects, did not convince the magistrates. She got off with the same sentence. There is no doubt that his seventeen criminal records (theft, contempt, rebellion, drug trafficking, etc.) did not speak in his favor.

All three were kept in detention

Finally, the third thief, already convicted fifteen times for theft, possession of narcotics, rebellion, contempt, extortion by violence, involuntary manslaughter by car, etc., confessed this time to being a receiver of electric guitars.

Two musical instruments valued at 1,900 euros and 450 euros, supposedly purchased 70 euros to Plan Cabanes and resold to Cash Express for 120 euros! But he denied the charges of carjacking or snatching. He was sentenced to twelve months, six of which were suspended with probation.

Concerning the firm part of their sentence, the court ordered that all three be kept in detention.
