Les pompiers de Sète sont rapidement intervenus avenue Victor-Hugo ce mercredi 27 mars. L’incident s’est révélé sans gravité.

An alarm went off around 8:40 p.m. this Wednesday March 27 inside the Victor Hugo tobacconist in Sète, while the latter had closed its doors earlier in the evening. Smoke was escaping over the iron curtain of the establishment. Thinking of a fire, the Sète firefighters were quickly deployed to the scene. But upon their arrival, they noticed that it was not smoke linked to a fire, but that the alarm could have been triggered by an anti-intrusion device.

Triggered by error

Meanwhile, the police arrived on the scene. The firefighters were then able to open the iron curtain after contacting the owners. They were then able, according to our information, to confirm that the store door located just behind the metal blind was open and smoke was escaping en masse. After a quick investigation, it turns out that the anti-intrusion system would have been triggered unexpectedly. More fear than harm, particularly for the neighboring hotel whose evacuation was considered for a time due to a possible fire.
