A wave of warm and moist air expected to hit southern Quebec Tuesday and could stay until Sunday.
Environment Canada has issued a heat alert for Montréal, Laval and the Montérégie region, so that the heat wave could also reach the North Shore and the Laurentians.
Temperatures should remain above 30 °C a good part of the week and will remain above 20 °C during the night.
The humidex is expected to reach some 40 °C.
A heat wave is the result of three consecutive days with these temperatures.
The risks are greatest for young children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with chronic diseases and those who work or exercise outside.
Check the status of the elderly in your family, your friends and neighbors. Make sure they are fresh and drink the water, has reminded Environment Canada.
