Police department abolished after racist joke

UPDATE DAY

Vincent Municipality in the US state of Alabama has decided to abolish its police station after one of its officers made a racist joke via text message, the outlet reported AL.

An excerpt from the text message sent by the policeman, whose name has never been released, recently circulated on social networks, alerting the City. The latter subsequently investigated to find out more.

On August 2, the members of the council of the municipality met to discuss the incident.

Three days later, a decision was made: the contracts of the Chief of the Police Department, James Srygley, and that of his assistant, John L. Goss, were terminated.

“ We also adopted a resolution to order the abolition of the police department,” announced James Latimore, Mayor of Vincent.
