Après les fêtes de fin d'année, le bilan est positif pour les vendeurs d'huîtres aux Halles de Sète.

Nearly a week after New Year's Eve, oyster sellers are drawing the first conclusions about the end-of-year celebrations. At the Sète halls, the watchword is "satisfaction".

"It really went well this year. We felt that customers perhaps spent a little less during this period of inflation. But we remain very happy,” says Annick Isoird, who offers shellfish from Bouzigues.

Impacted by the closures in Arcachon ?

A few meters from her, Jean-Philippe Rigal, from the fishmonger Chez Jean-Phi, draws a similar assessment, despite the recent context linked to the closures of oyster beds in the Bassin d&rsquo ;Arcachon or Brittany. "We were not afraid of any impact on our sales. Consumers are loyal and have confidence, explains the man who sells Gillardeau oysters.

At the Chez la Marseillaise stand, Vanessa Regnier noticed that "customers were asking more questions about it, but were still consuming". Enough to sweep away the slight fears of an impact on Sète trade. "Oysters remain an essential product on tables during the holidays. So for us, it worked well,” rejoices the saleswoman.
