A Quebec goalie gets his chance with the Stars

Quebec goaltender Rémi Poirier could experience his first moments in the National Hockey League (NHL), as he was recalled by the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. 

The Farnham native is playing his first career season in professional hockey. He played with the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL and with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League.

Poirier had 10 games in the second-best league in North America. Nord, and is now 5-3-2 with a .913 save percentage and a 2.48 goals-against average.

The 21-year-old goaltender was a top pick sixth-round (185th overall) Stars in the 2020 Draft. Poirier previously played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, all with the Gatineau Olympiques.
