A record weekend for Club illico with the “Mégantic” series

The “Mégantic” series has been a hit on Club illico since its launch on February 9. Videotron's platform even set a new record for the highest number of subscribers watching a series during its first weekend of availability. 

It It was not possible to obtain precise data to support this record, Club illico, like the other platforms, not sharing its figures. All we know is that the Club has roughly 500,000 subscribers.

Produced by Also, in collaboration with Quebecor Content, this touching, moving and deeply human work is inspired by the A train tragedy that occurred on July 6, 2013, killed 47 people in Lac-Mégantic when a convoy transporting crude oil to the city center derailed. The accident caused multiple explosions and several large fires. We live the before, the during and the after through several characters who return from one episode to another.

The author Sylvain Guy, the director-producer Alexis Durand-Brault and the producer Sophie Lorain consulted the people of Lac-Mégantic before writing the eight episodes, which are all moving little films. The three craftsmen offer a strong and realistic work relating to the terrible events that occurred almost 10 years ago.
