The SNCF Aubrac line relaunched
#HÉRAULT/AVEYRON/LOZÈRE After eight months of work and €43 million invested by the State, the SNCF Béziers-Neussargues line has been fully reopened.
This Saturday, November 9, 220 passengers took their places on an event train departing from Béziers to celebrate the reopening of this railway line crossing the Massif Central and which, in the past, linked Paris to the Mediterranean. Béziers-Neussargues is a 277 km journey through fields and valleys.
A festive day was organized by the association Les amis du viaduc de Garabit (Amiga) and the Region, to mark the northern reopening of the Causses line (Aubrac line), between Saint-Chély-d’Apcher and Neussargues in Cantal. A lifeline for many municipalities that remained mobilized to maintain it. It was completed in 1888. It almost disappeared if enthusiasts had not taken up the case in the 2000s.
Refusal to comply: 30 months in prison
#BÉZIERS A 24-year-old man was prosecuted for refusing to comply on September 28. The chase ended in the Devèze district after the fugitives' car crashed into a bus shelter.
That day, one of the two police officers who felt in danger and who could no longer see his colleague, used his firearm. He fired into the trunk of the vehicle. A version that was somewhat modified after viewing a video of two individuals. It allowed serious doubt to be cast on the dangerous situation of the two police officers.
But this Wednesday, November 6, it was not the trial of the police officers, but that of the fugitive. The public prosecutor of Béziers, Raphaël Balland, clarified on this point: “We are not going to get the wrong trial. It is indeed the defendant who is being tried. I have ordered an investigation by the IGPN (the police of the police). I will decide what to do next.” In court, the defendant admitted to all the facts he was accused of. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison.

#NÎMES This is the distance covered in km by William Bonnet from Nîmes swimming between Nelson Mandela’s prison island and Boulberg. A crazy challenge for someone who is one of the best French swimmers in ice water.
“This crossing is considered one of the most difficult in the world, because of the strong currents, the weather conditions, an intense marine life And especially because of the water temperature, between 11 and 16° all year round, which exposes you to hypothermia over long distances specifies William Bonnet.
The shad is back
#GARDThe Mediterranean twaite shad (Alosa agone), which had not been observed for decades or even centuries in the Gardon, made its return this year. Several spawning areas were observed in Collias. Hope for this species classified as near threatened on the lists of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The work to repair the Remoulins fish pass and the spring rains have been beneficial to the rise of the Gardon, the first tributary that the migratory species encounters on the Rhône.
