Be careful if you have planned a trip for the Ascension long weekend: around a third of the flights operated by Vueling in France will be canceled on Wednesday 8 and Thursday. 9 due to a strike by cabin crew.
Approximately a third of the flights operated by Vueling in France will be canceled this Wednesday, May 8 and Thursday, May 9 due to a cabin crew strike, the airline announced.
"The company plans to operate nearly 70% of the flights scheduled in France for Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 nbsp;May under regular conditions", the low-cost carrier based in Spain said in a press release.
Faith negotiations demanded
On April 29, the SNPNC-FO, representative of the company's hostesses and stewards, filed a strike notice from May 8 to 12, coinciding with the long weekend of the Ascension, to demand negotiations "loyal" with management on a new corporate agreement. The CGT also called for work to stop.
During the night from Monday to Tuesday, the SNPNC-FO deplored that Vueling had "preferred to provoke a strike rather than bring the unions together and find a solution& quot; and assured that on Wednesday, "22 of the 23 flights with crews from the Paris-Orly base" would be cancelled.
"The movement, very popular, continues for May 9, 10, 11 and 12", added the union in a statement sent to AFP, ensuring that it was "totally open to discussion" to find a solution.
"Minimize disruption"
For its part, Vueling said on Tuesday "convinced that dialogue and mutual understanding must prevail over conflict and is appealing once again the responsibility of the SNPNC-FO and the CGT to cancel the strike in order to continue negotiations".
The company indicated that it is working "in coordination with all teams to minimize disruption" caused by this social movement and inform "all customers of the alternative options available to mitigate, as much as possible, major inconveniences".
The company boasts a network of 248 routes, including 42 in France from Orly, Roissy and six other French airports. It transported more than 34 million passengers in 2023.
Founded in 2004 in Spain and focused on "low-cost", Vueling, headquartered in Barcelona , is a member of the IAG group, alongside British Airways and Iberia.
