Philadelphia Flyers forward Zack MacEwen will be sidelined for five weeks with a broken jaw.
On Sunday, the The Philadelphia Inquirer daily learned that the 26-year-old athlete went under the knife.
MacEwen was reportedly injured Thursday evening during a a matchup against the Minnesota Wild. After a fight against Marcus Foligno, the native of Prince Edward Island did not return to the game.
Never drafted, MacEwen began his professional career with the Canucks of Vancouver. The Flyers claimed him off waivers in October 2021. Since then, he has become an important cog in the Pennsylvania club when it comes to toughness. The forward was even used to obscure the goaltender's view of the second power play.
In 46 games this season, MacEwen has scored four times and provided five assists for nine dots. This is his best career campaign on the Bettman circuit.
