A tournament Dek Hockey held last Saturday at the Complex HBLL Mirabel has led to five cases of contamination to the COVID-19.

The CISSS of the Laurentians has indicated that an event far in excess of the limits of gathering of 50 people was held and that an individual who took part in the games would have been carrying the virus. The fact of the effect of contamination, four additional people would have contracted the disease.

On his page Facebook, Ball Hockey Laurentides-Lanaudière (HBLL) has indicated that a player had suffered a concussion during the tournament, and that she had to be evacuated to the hospital by ambulance. On-site, its test screening at the COVID-19 regulatory is positive.

The league of Dek Hockey says that the woman in question did not play on the outside, but it is placed by the toilets and that she has been in close contact with other people.

The rain would not have helped either, so that a large number of people took refuge under a roof, in a cramped space, not respecting neither social distancing nor the port of the mask, said the CISSS of the Laurentians.

In response, HBLL has made the wearing of the mask required for all spectators at league matches in the summer. The number of spectators granted to each player has also been limited to one.

HBLL has chosen to cancel the two events remaining in the season.

In a press release, the public health Directorate of the Laurentians has asked the people present at the Complex HBLL July 11, between 10 a.m. and 17: 30 to test for the coronavirus.

Dr. Jean-Luc Grenier, a medical consultant in infectious diseases at the public health department of the Laurentians has stated that “it is likely that these five new cases are only the tip of the iceberg” and that “the pandemic is not yet behind us”.

For its part, the CISSS of the region has indicated that the league of Dek Hockey is cooperating with the public health and that it had taken the necessary measures.
