A new victory at the Kaufmann stadium – the third in as many matches – for the RCN players who nevertheless let the offensive bonus slip away at the end of the match. From the first minutes, the Nîmes team got their hands on the ball and occupied the camp of their opponents of the day. On a bad restart from the Rumilly players, they even scored the first try of the match (7/0). Strong in touch, the Nîmes team imposed, following a penalty touch, a penetrating maul that the captain and scrum half of the RCN Justin Phillips took pleasure in flattening.
Strong in the scrum, Nîmes left pillar Mathis Arnaud puts his opposite number in trouble, but fly-half Nathan Sabbia misses the target, and the opportunity to increase the scoreboard in this first act controlled head and shoulders by Guillaume Aguilar's men. And the score, on the Nîmes side, could have been more substantial in this first half, by erasing certain dross. And a glaring lack of realism with at least one or even two tries left on the road.
Back on the pitch, the locals press where it hurts with long sequences in the axis of the Haut-Savoiard defense. Dominant in touch, they even manage to counter Rumilly's rare attacks. And take advantage of the slightest crumb to punish. Like this try by Benjamin Banerias, following a magnificent breakthrough, in the center of the field, by Salmone Qeleca with Justin Phillips in the relay (22/0). With that of Charles Robbe, the Nîmes will register four tries, but the two tries from Haute-Savoie will deprive them of the offensive bonus.
