Un animal sauvage que se laisse attraper est souvent un animal en difficulté Sdis34

A vulture in great difficulty was rescued by the firefighters of Ceilhes-et-Rocozels, in the same commune, then sent to the wildlife hospital of Laroque.

This Monday, September 30, a somewhat unusual intervention took place in the town of Ceilhes-et-Rocozels. Indeed, the firefighters intervened to catch a large bird of prey. This one, we are no longer used to seeing it gliding in the Tarn gorges, taking advantage of the ascending currents. Here, it is on the ground that this vulture was recovered. A bird surely in great difficulty. Yes, definitely, because it is very rare to be able to catch a wild animal without having to resort to chemical processes.

This Monday, after some hesitation, the firefighters were able to calm this vulture, comfort it, and finally take it to the Laroque wildlife hospital where it can be treated and returned to the wild as soon as its condition allows.

Advice, if the firefighters cannot intervene

If the firefighters cannot intervene, to catch the animal, use gloves or wrap it in a cloth (clothing, a blanket or a towel): by hiding its head, you will calm it down and catch it more easily. Once the animal is placed in the box, avoid handling it and do not show it. It is a wild animal, stress can make its situation worse. Leave it in a calm and warm place, neither in direct sunlight nor in the open air. Finally, it is recommended not to give the animal anything to eat, drink or medication, unless instructed to do so by your contact at the wildlife hospital. Never give milk or bread to animals.
