MONTREAL | A 48-year old man has been injured in detention on Monday in Montreal, resulting in the opening of an investigation by the Office of the independent surveys (EIB).
According to their information, the man was arrested around 20 h for an armed attack on a passer-by in an unknown location in the city.
The suspect was then driven to the detention Centre of the police Department of the City of Montreal.
At around 22: 40, he became very agitated in his cell, slapping the head against the wall, rending their, which led to profuse bleeding.
The police officers attempted to stop the individual, since the outside of the cell, to the gun electric, without success.
The officers then called Emergency-health and the intervention Group, who managed to subdue the man using the gun power.
The man was transported to the hospital where his life is not in danger.
The EIB has assigned five investigators to understand the course of events, which will be supported by the Sûreté du Québec.
