Abeille Verte employees rebuilt a dry stone wall

Le mur a retrouvé sa largeur et les participants sont aujourd’hui qualifiés sur ce type de construction.

Six people intervened on Grezac, along a hiking trail.

From now on, hikers and walkers who will take the "Livre du Lodévois" on the heights of Lodève, on the Grézac, will be able to follow a completely redone dry stone wall on a portion of around thirty meters of municipal road. For four weeks, employees of the employment company (EBE) Abeille Verte rebuilt this wall in partnership with the City of Lodève and the association of dry stone builders based in the Cévennes.

A qualifying project which opens up perspectives

"It is within the framework of a qualifying training which allows an increase in the skills of our teams", explains the general director of the EBE Samuel Truscott. "We are positioning ourselves on dry stone because there is an infinite amount of work, and a real need to start rebuilding these walls which are part of our heritage. We can position ourselves on sites that have clauses for integration, so as not to enter into competition with professionals".

Alongside the Artisan Builders, the 6 employees of Abeille Verte therefore learned the techniques to rebuild the wall composed solely of stones found on site, often collapsed from the previous one in a path which thus regained its full width.

"This project went very well, and the certificate obtained now allows them to join dry stone construction companies . Today there is more work than builders in this sector of the future", specified the director of the Cévennes association Benjamin Deceuninck.

A project which delighted the elected officials of Lodevois who came to see the result during the presentation of the diploma to the participants.

&amp ;quot; We all remember the 2015 floods in the city. Runoff problems have arisen because the network of walls on the heights is very deteriorated and no longer fulfills its hydrological role around the flow of water, analyzed the mayor Gaëlle Lévêque and her first assistant Ludovic Cros.

With today the desire to go further on other projects ? In any case, the Lodévois no shortage of old paths to rehabilitate…
