Abortion of a 10-year-old girl: the daughter of the doctor already threatened with kidnapping

Abortion of a 10-year-old girl: the doctor's daughter has already ; threatened with kidnapping

The Indiana doctor who performed an abortion on a 10-year-old rape victim has faced several threats in the past, including the kidnapping of her daughter, reported Saturday The Guardian.

Dr Caitlin Bernard argued in a case about Indiana abortion restrictions that 'she had been forced to stop performing first-trimester abortions because of kidnapping threats against her daughter.

“I felt it would be best for me to limit my travel and exposure during this time,” she said. “I was worried that people might identify me during these trips. In addition, since it is a very small clinic with no privacy for people entering and leaving it, people could see me directly.”

The doctor's name also appears on an extremist anti-abortion website that was linked to Justice Amy Coney Barrett before she was appointed to the Supreme Court.

“Reports regarding threats against Dr. Bernard's family in 2020 are sadly true,” confirmed the doctor's spokeswoman, Kendra Barkoff Lamy. “Unfortunately, Dr. Bernard is not alone, and it happens to doctors like her who perform abortions across the country.”

“The fact that Dr. Bernard continues to provide reproductive care essentials, even after receiving these threats, shows the depth of his compassion and commitment as a doctor. She is grateful for the support she has received, but she asks for the privacy of her family,” she added.

The obstetrician-gynecologist found herself on the center stage after it was reported that she performed an abortion on a 10-year-old girl from Ohio, who had to travel to the neighboring state for an abortion due to the reversal of the judgment Roe v. Wade in June.

Remember that Ohio prohibits all abortions after six weeks. The girl who was raped was six weeks and three days pregnant.
