Naya Rivera, star of the television series Glee found dead Monday in a lake from California five days after his disappearance, has been a victim of an “accidental drowning,” said the medical examiner.
The examination of the body confirmed that it was the actress of 33 years, and he showed no injury, said Tuesday in a statement the medical examiner of Ventura county, near Los Angeles.
There has been no indication that alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the drowning of Naya Rivera, says the examiner.
The young woman drowned in lake Piru, boating center attended, after having praised the July 8, a boat on which she had embarked with her four year old son.
She had not reappeared, and an important feature of research was triggered on the same day, with divers and helicopters.
According to police, the son of the actress had been found asleep on the boat and wearing a life jacket, a few hours after their departure.
The child subsequently told investigators that he had gone swimming with his mother in the lake, and that this had helped him to climb aboard. It was then “flipped” and had seen her disappear beneath the surface of the water,” said the sheriff.
Naya Rivera owes its reputation to the character of Santana Lopez, a student cheerleader that she has embodied in the six seasons of the series, Glee (2009-2015).
