Accommodation also considered “expensive”

Patron de 13 campings Yelloh ! Village sur la région, Bernard Sauvaire conteste des tarifs trop élevés.
“Renting in a campsite is more expensive than renting a villa or an apartment, complains Annie, a resident of Capestang (Hérault). Before, people who had little means went camping, now they stay at home". She adds : "In Vendres, a bungalow costs more than 2,000 euros a week, while a week in a small villa is less than 1,000 euros. In Capestang, renting a mobile home costs less than 500 euros a week, without entertainment of course.
Too harsh, the Héraultaise? “Yes” for Bernard Sauvaire, who runs 13 campsites in the region, including La Petite Camargue in Aigues-Mortes. “We have mobile homes for 65 euros a night”, he says. This is the lowest price in season. It is wrong to say and believe that campsites have become more expensive than other accommodations. His group acknowledges a 2% increase in its prices in August, after having lowered them “by 5% in July to attract customers.”
