Afghanistan: Canada offers $ 56 million in humanitarian aid

Canada will provide humanitarian aid of $ 56 million to support the Afghan people, who face an unprecedented crisis since the Taliban took power.

“Millions of people in Afghanistan need urgent aid and I will do my best to give them the help they need,” the Minister of International Development and Minister responsible for the Agency said in a statement on Tuesday. Pacific Economic Development Canada, Harjit S. Sajjan.

This funding will provide emergency food and nutrition services as well as logistical protection services to ensure the flow of goods .

Canada has already awarded a total of $ 179.7 million in a Humanitarian aid in Afghanistan since 2014, including $ 27.3 million that was sent in 2021.

Nearly 24 million Afghans will need humanitarian aid in 2022, according to estimates by the Canadian government.
