Les Gazelles reçoivent Saint-Amand, avant-dernier en Ligue féminine, ce vendredi (20h). Un succès pourrait confirmer leur belle victoire à Charnay.
A renewal in the championship ? After the great victory won at Charnay, the BLMA will want to continue at home against Saint-Amand, a candidate for retention.
The victory against Charnay (74-90), last weekend, did a lot of good for the heads of Lattes-Montpellier, which remained on four consecutive losses in the championship. A deserved success because the BLMA dominated the majority of the match by being stronger in rebounds (33 against 26) and shooting percentages that were not far from insolent. « We were good especially in the third quarter. We closed down well defensively, we stepped up in defense, it’s better. This is our best away victory of the season with that of Saint-Amand." is satisfied with Valéry Demory.
The example of the first leg against Saint-Amand will be the one to follow. A meeting where the Gazelles clearly dominated the Northerners (44-70), the latter only scoring 18 points after returning from the locker room. The BLMA coach does not expect the same scenario at all. « Their team has changed since the first leg. I don’t expect an easy match. »
The BLMA will need this victory before a month of February as busy as January with no less than five meetings on the program. A calendar which will notably see the Gazelles challenge two championship leaders, Lyon and Basket Landes, as well as the double confrontation in the European Cup against the Turks of Besiktas.
Last match before the international break
Before this schedule, the BLMA was able to benefit for the second time in a row from a full week to prepare for the weekend's match, beneficial time for the Gazelles coach. « We worked a lot on defensive mobility and reading on pick and rolls as well as interval shots.
For this meeting, the BLMA will have to do without its Belgian Kyara Linskens, injured during the trip to Charnay. According to her trainer Valéry Demory, she suffers from a serious sprain and should be absent for around two weeks. While Migna Touré is uncertain for the reception at Saint-Amand with a small sprain suffered in training this week. Unavailability which falls just before the international break which will begin at the end of February and which will last until mid-February.
