Agde – Pézenas bike connection: Sébastien Frey persists and signs
|Relier le Cap d’Agde à Pézenas à vélo, ce sera bientôt possible. D.R.
La maire d’Agde et président de l'Agglo Hérault Méditerranée confirme que les délais seraient tenus, à savoir une liaison praticable en 2025.
Our questions about the future of the cycle link between Agde and Pézenas, which we reported on in our paper edition of Thursday 29 August, did not fail to provoke a reaction from the mayor of Agde and president of the Hérault Méditerranée urban community, Sébastien Frey.
Two phases of work to be carried out in 2025
After consulting several stakeholders in the case on the morning of Thursday 29 August, he confirmed to us that not only had the project not been abandoned, but that the planned deadlines would be met, namely a link to be put into service during the year 2025. "Work tranches 2 and 3 will actually be carried out at the same time", he announced. Which means in concrete terms that after inaugurating the first phase of this project, namely the link between the round lock of Agde and the guinguette of Bessan, there would be no additional work by the end of the year.
Necessary land acquisitions
The difficulty concerns in fact the link between Bessan and Saint-Thibéry, up to the Roman bridge. There, the cycle path must follow a road that is not wide enough, which will force the Agglo to acquire strips of land, particularly on vineyards. An operation that is not particularly complex and expensive to carry out, but which takes time.
For the third sector, between Saint-Thibéry and Pézenas, the small roads that line the Hérault valley will simplify things, even if these developments must be harmonized with the work on Avenue de Verdun, started almost a year ago in the city of Molière.
