Agde: the Canal du Midi is dry

An image always surprising at this time of year. FREE MIDI – OLIVIER RAYNAUD

This year, this waterway, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stopped boat traffic earlier than expected? due to drought. It will normally reopen in March.

On the bridge which spans the road towards Marseillan, we can see that the level of the Canal du Midi is at its lowest.

And although the drought has been cruelly felt at the level of the water reservoirs which supply the canal throughout its course, do not panic: it is in fact of an emptying carried out during the period closed to navigation, after the Agde round lock, due to maintenance work.
