Aliens, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks in the next Wes Anderson film

Aliens, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks in next Wes Anderson movie< /p> UPDATE DAY

Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hanks are the latest Hollywood actors to join popular director Wes Anderson's repertoire. The trailer for his next alien movie, 'Asteroid City', has just been released.

Scarlett Johansson as movie star, Tom Hanks as obnoxious grandfather, Jason Schwartzman as a new widower trying to get his car fixed and… an alien! Wes Anderson's new film seems as colorful and original as the director of “The Grand Budapest Hotel” has accustomed us to.

The impressive cast also includes Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Margot Robbie, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, and Jake Ryan.

The trailer – in the pastel colors and retro look that the American filmmaker is famous for – offers a nice glimpse of this story set in a fictional American desert town in 1955.

The film's official synopsis describes it as follows: “The itinerary of a Junior Stargazer/Space Cadet convention – organized to bring together students and parents from around the country to college scholarship competition – is dramatically disrupted by world-changing events.

“I don't like the way that guy looked at us, the alien. As if we were doomed,” says the character played by Jason Schwartzman in the trailer.

Interesting fact: l Anderson's favorite actor Bill Murray was set to star in the feature but had to drop the project due to COVID-19.

Focus Feature will release the film for a limited time on June 16 next, before it officially airs on June 23. A premiere of the film “Asteroid City” is also planned at the Cannes Film Festival.
