All the good deals to enjoy the Roman Days of Nîmes this weekend

Ce vendredi 3, samedi 4 et dimanche 5 mai, les Romains sont de retour à Nîmes pour un week-end de spectacles, d’animations et de reconstitutions.

Germanicus dans les arènes

This is the highlight, the must-see of the weekend. The great historical spectacle in the arenas features Germanicus and the barbaric anger. With nearly 600 re-enactors, the staging brings to life the Battle of Teutoburg and the history of the barbarians, the greatest tragedy experienced by the Romans. Friday May 3, 5:30 p.m.; Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 3 p.m. and 30 p.m. From 15 € at 64 €, children from 5 years old.

The great night parade

The re-enactors of the show, legionnaires, warriors, senators and dancers, meet to parade by torchlight from the Maison Carrée down Boulevard Victor-Hugo and join the Emperor at the arenas. Saturday May 4, 8:30 p.m.

The Legionnaires' Fort

The Roman Days start this Wednesday, May 1 with the opening of the legionnaires' fort, in the grove of the Jardins de la Fontaine. The military tents are erected and allow you to discover the organization of the Roman armies, the packing of the legionnaires, and demonstrations of maneuvers. Children can also participate in workshops, chain mail, sculpture or music… From Wednesday 1st to Sunday 5th May, 11am-7pm. Pablo Picasso Square. 7 €, reduced 4 €, free – 4 years.

A Gallo-Roman village

On the Esplanade, a Gallo-Roman village allows you to discover daily life, with workshops (ceramics, bronze, leather, rope), falconry demonstrations, wooden games…hellip ; Friday May 3, 5 p.m.-9 p.m.; Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

An ancient market brings together around forty traders offering the most common products in Roman times. Friday May 3, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Saturday 4, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sunday 5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

On site, it will also be possible to taste a Gallo-Roman inspired menu. Friday May 3 and Saturday May 4, noon and evening; Sunday 5, noon only.

Banquet and shows at the Jardins de la Fontaine

Michelin-starred chef for Entre vigne et garrigue in Pujaut, chef Maxime Chenet offers a gastronomic banquet, inspired by Roman wedding menus. Saturday May 4, 8 p.m. 90 €, per person.

All weekend, numerous shows allow you to immerse yourself in the Roman atmosphere. The Carpe Feuch association presents an antique fashion show The ages of life (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May, 12&nbsp ;h). The Triptyk theater company shares a literary panorama around Arminius with a dramatized reading (Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday May 5, 11 a.m.). With Barbarians ?the Cie La Lune de l’ambre explains through the daughter of a German noble educated in Rome the notion of barbarian (Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday May 5, 14& ;nbsp;h 30). With Trahison, the storyteller Mythomarcius tells the story of Roman expansion with a burlesque show (Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday, May 5, 4 p.m. and 30 p.m.

With Magic and divination among the Germans, the Memini present the art of divination and the making of amulets (Friday 3 , Saturday 4, Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-6 p.m.). Nomis installs its cooperative treasure hunt The Return of the Eaglesin front of the nymphaeum (Friday 3, Saturday 4, Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-6 p.m.). Guided tours "From Nemoz to Nemausus" allow you to discover the history of the ancient site (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 , 2 pm  ;30).

Workshops at the Musée de la Romanité

Stands and workshops allow you to put yourself "In the shoes of a legionnaire with a capauna" (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.), to discover the ceremonies of the Germanic priestess Cherusque (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 11 ;nbsp;h), to do their hair in the Roman style (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 10 h-6 h), to understand “The place of women in the ;rsquo;period of Agrippina the Ancient” (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.), to create a scented balm (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 10 a.m. nbsp;30 and 15 h 30).

Pascal Mime also offers a narrated musical stroll to discover the life of Germanicus (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5, 2 p.m. 30).

The meeting of the gladiators

The Antikarme association introduces you to the life of gladiators, Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5, on Place Gabriel-Peri. Gladiator demonstrations, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2 p.m.-3 p.m.; permanent gladiature stand, 12 p.m.-1 p.m.-30 p.m.; gladiatorial show and dance, 2 p.m.-3 p.m.; child ludus, adult ludus and gladiature stand, 15-15 h 30.

Also to discover on site, dance shows with the Philocalia association (Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday May 5, 3 p.m. nbsp;30 and 17 h 30) and the plays Opus II, satirical and educational sketches by the Cie Cadeau Tchatche (Friday&nbsp ;3, Saturday 4 and Sunday May 5 , 4 p. 30).

An antique murder party

A life-size investigation game through the city on the theme of Roman life. Players with a map must find the game's costumed actors and solve puzzles near iconic historic locations. Friday 3, Saturday 4 and Sunday May 5, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., last departure 6 p.m.
