Belgium has a few authors that we are following with interest, among which Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Armel Job, and Amélie Nothomb. To this list has now been added to Paul Colize, a writer of dark novels, a native of Brussels, of which we had never read the books. Since the turn of the years 2000, it has yet written a good fifteen, of which several have been award-winning. What more can we say ? Paul Colize, who now lives in Waterloo, would have apparently discovered very young the crime novels thanks to a grandmother who adored the stories of the murders.

Not guilty by reason of insanity ?

Recognized for his plots excavated, Paul Colize invites us here to make the acquaintance of Nikola Stankovic, an artist, a painter of 35-year-old native of Croatia. But much to clarify immediately that things are not going very well for him. A young waitress, also a native of Croatia, was murdered with blows of the knife, and even if Nikola persists in asserting that he is not there for nothing, all the clues point to him : the fingerprints found in the apartment of the victim, blood stains maculant his shoes and the series of drawings frankly gore found in his workshop in Saint-Gilles. After that, go ask a lawyer, to prove and plead his innocence ! Yet, this is exactly what will occur as soon as Nikola will be interned in a psychiatric centre… to see if it is affected or not of a serious mental disorder.

Once past the cape of the first chapters, a suspense mounted.
