Ex Expos veteran joins Yankees


Former Montreal Expos outfielder Brad Wilkerson was named assistant batting coach with the New York Yankees on Monday. 

Wilkerson held until this announces the role of assistant coach and scouting coordinator with the Jacksonville University baseball program.

The American, now 45, played eight seasons in the major league baseball, including four with the Expos. He was one of those who lived through the move to Washington, playing a campaign with the Nationals before playing for the Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays.

The former left-handed hitter averaged .247 his entire career, scoring 500 runs in 972 games. He also hit 122 home runs.
