"That's it, I've laid down my arms, I was starting to get a little fed up." With his traditional gravelly voice, Laurent Caillat, an emblematic figure of Languedoc rugby, left his position as coach at the end of the previous season. At the head of the senior team of RC Plages d'Orb, an alliance between Sérignan and Valras-Plage, since 2007, the former fly-half of Rodez, Montpellier and Lunel has decided to hang up his boots.

“I am a child of Sérignan, I played my first matches there more than forty years ago”, adds Caillat who now wants to take advantage of his Sundays to “go and watch my kids."

"Take time, recharge your batteries"

His kids, fly-halfs like their father, play for Yann (27 years old) at Arcachon (National 2) and Bastien (22 years old) at RC Méditerranée (Federal 2). At 54, the man who has worked at Hérault Sport for twenty-five years, wants to “take time, recharge his batteries” and will see “if in some time coaching (me) starts itching again…"

For his last season at the helm of the RCPO, Caillat regrets a little “the defeat in the final of the Terroir against the Rives d’Orb, and also the journey to the final phase of the French championship", but now leaves the group to a duo of coaches whom he knows well: Thibault Lacroix and Mickael Motis.
