Mobilized on the fire of a scooter in October 2017, the security and emergency forces were trapped. More than 6 years after the events, this Friday March 15, three people had to answer before the Nîmes criminal court d’« ambush in a meeting with the aim of committing violence with the use or threat of a weapon.
All three of them had to answer before the courts, among other things; "ambush in a meeting, with the aim of committing violence with the use or threat of a weapon ". But this Friday morning, March 15, 2024, only Imad A. and Fouad D. found themselves facing their judges, during the criminal hearing which was held before the Nîmes judicial court.
On October 7, 2017 in the heart of Pissevin, a crew of firefighters then supervised by a police patrol, intervened for the fire of a scooter. Once there, everyone was greeted by jets of projectiles including stones, of course, but also and above all molotov cocktails. By a miracle, everyone escaped, unharmed. Forever traumatized.
"We saw ourselves die"
More than 6 years after the events, the main suspect in this case is still on the run. While the minors suspected of having participated in this veritable ambush have already appeared before the courts.
This Friday morning, prosecutor Cécile David requested in the absence, according to her, "of exculpatory evidence" firm prison sentences of 4, 5 and 6 years against the three accused, also prosecuted for: "manufacture of& ;rsquo;explosive devices", "detention and transport of incendiary product", or even "deterioration of property of others".
"My clients saw themselves die", maintained during his pleading Mr Corral, the lawyer for police officers. "This case is quite simply the one which most traumatized the body of the Gard firefighters ", continued Me Barnouin, the lawyer for the firefighters, two of whom were present Friday during the hearing.
Defended by Masters Mordacq and Santimaria, suspected of having participated in the making of explosive devices, or of not having called for help during the assault on the sappers' truck- firefighters, Imad A. and Fouad D. were both acquitted for the benefit of the doubt following a long deliberation.
Suspected of being the instigator of this ambush, Mohamed, 31, received a sentence of 10 years in prison.
An arrest warrant was issued against him by the court, which also compensated the firefighters, the Sdis and the police, the sums of 4,000, 3,000 and 1 000 euros each for damages.
