It was with great solemnity that Christophe Serre, 1st Vice-President of the Gard Departmental Council, delegate for the Autonomy of the Elderly and Disabled, presided over the signing of the Accompanied Response for All (Rapt) agreement, this Thursday, September 5, in Nîmes. A new measure bringing together the MDPH, the ARS, the Caf, the MSA, the CPAM, the National Education and the Departmental Council.

“Today is a very important moment for the MDPH of Gard and all people with disabilities who currently find themselves without a reception solution. Cases that continue to increase, particularly among children entrusted to Child Welfare Services (ASE), 30% of whom have a disability", announces Christophe Serre. "From now on, thanks to the Rapt system, regardless of the seriousness or complexity of the disabled person's situation, they will benefit from support."

90 000 Gardois are in a situation of handicap

Concretely, every month, the representatives of the partner Gard institutions will meet in a steering committee, in order to study together, the most problematic cases in order to find solutions together. "Family difficulties, obstacles to schooling or even the lack of a place in a specialized institute cause situations of rupture or risk of rupture in their life path", explain the specialists. Initially, they may be temporary, but will become permanent in the outcome.

“This way we can best support the most complex situations, because the reality is implacable: many situations have no solution. Thanks to this agreement, we will be able to make our joint work even more concrete to help these people build their lives”, explains Maryse Giannaccini, vice-president of the CD30, delegate for Child Protection, Early Childhood and Parenting Support.

Currently, more than one hundred Gardois benefit from this agreement. Note that the Gard has nearly 90,000 Gardois who have an open right to the MDPH.
