An evening of support for Biterrois winegrowers

La mairie a réuni vignerons, restaurateurs et responsables de la grande distribution au Palais des congrès, ce lundi.

The Palais des Congrès hosted on Monday March 11 an evening of meetings between professionals from the catering industry, mass distribution, wine merchants and wine growers (including beekeepers), in the presence of Robert Ménard, mayor of Béziers, and Emmanuelle Ménard, deputy for Hérault, in order to highlight the wines of the Béziers area.

Large contingent among the 200 people present, the winegrowers came in large numbers, like Laurent Bonnet, from the Pouzac estate, in Servian: &quot ;The atmosphere was nice. What was missing was the restaurateurs. There were more politicians than chefs! I was able to do two or three tastings, and so far I haven't had any feedback. But the mayor, who organized the meeting, made it clear: this is only the beginning."

For winegrowers, links with restaurateurs are always complicated. This is an additional outlet, but canvassing them takes time, and the quantities sold are not large, which requires making numerous deliveries. Hamid Lekmi, owner of the Komptoir du Champ-de-Mars in Béziers, nevertheless believes that he did not waste his time by coming to this evening: "I already offer bottles from the region, but here I was able to taste quality wines, at a good price… I'm going to change my menu ."

The City confirms that it will increase this type of action, so that "the wines of the territory are more present on our tables".
