French and Spanish farmers plan to block seven crossing points along the Franco-Spanish border, from the Basque Country to the Pyrénées-Orientales, this Monday, June 3, 2024.
Disruptions are expected on cross-border roads and surrounding areas this Monday June 3, 2024 due to a mobilization of French and Spanish farmers. This action is not supported by agricultural unions, according to France info, but is at the initiative of Jérôme Bayle, media breeder who created the ’Ultras de l’ A64".
The objective of farmers through this mobilization is to influence the European vote, a few days before the elections. They are calling in particular for common regulations in the European Union on the issue of pesticides and energy prices.

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, the prefecture invites motorists not to go through the Biriatou toll (A36) or through the Somport and Pourtalet passes, targeted by the blockages. Several exits from the A63 motorway, before the Spanish border, will be closed from 9 a.m. in the France-Spain direction. Heavy goods vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes have been asked to postpone their travel.
