Dans la ligne de mire des agriculteurs en colère : les banques et leurs conditions de prêt. Diane Petitmangin

The farmers of the Hérault plain mobilized this Wednesday, February 28 in the evening, first in Pézenas then in Béziers and Maureilhan, to express their current fed up. At issue: the MSA contributions which fell the evening before and further weigh down already fragile finances.

"They are adding fuel to the fire!" They are cereal growers, producers of ;#39;onions, wine growers or market gardeners and no longer know how to express their anger and even their despair.

This Wednesday, February 28, around 7:30 p.m.-8 p.m., under the aegis of Rural Coordination, around fifty farmers gathered in Pézenas, avenue Maréchal-Leclerc, to say "that's enough! We received last night (Tuesday evening, Editor's note) our MSA (Mutualité sociale agricole) contributions which must be paid by the end of March. We are being murdered!, complains Arnaud Poitrine, administrator of CR 34.

Bills, loans, contributions are exploding

"The MSA tells us that it has postponed the deadlines that we must pay at the start of the year, while waiting for the anger to subside. calm but we are dry! The only measure they grant us is to pay the NSA in several installments (contribution of non-employee agricultural worker, Editor's note) but we have nothing left…"

Loans, interest, aggios, contributions for the MSA or for rising insurance, exploding bills… farmers say they are caught by the throat. "I have just paid off a debt of 8,000 € with bailiff, how do I do ?"

After having blocked access to Crédit Agricole and placed a pile of tires in front of the bank entrance, the farmers took the road to Béziers. "We pick up our friends from Servian and head to the MSA. We will also visit PromoCash and Métro, which imports many products from abroad, before finishing in Maureilhan, with the Trilles merchant who imports Spanish wine…" The night promises to be long.
